Tokyo y’sBe Academy, founded by HEAVENESE leader Marre Ishii, is a free school that aims to nurture a healthy sense of self-esteem based on the belief that “every person is unique and valuable and does not need to be compared to anyone else.”
The school is run by a team of teachers who are passionate about education and have a deep understanding of children’s psychology.
The music video “Until we reach home (Never Forget) ” differs from our previous works such as “Innocent Man” and “Taisetsu na Hito yo,” in that it focuses more directly on the theme of war.
Now, 80 years after the war, we believe it is deeply meaningful to collaborate with the last generation who actually lived through those times.
In this project, we, the students of Tokyo y’sBe Academy, took on the challenge of portraying young people from the war for the very first time.
To step into the lives of those who endured the final days of the war—especially the tokkotai (kamikaze pilots)—was an immeasurably heavy task. Yet we also came to realize that they were young people just like us, who knew both joy and sorrow.
It was not the reality they had hoped for. And yet, there were those who risked their lives for the sake of their compatriots.
The word “dōhō-ai”—a spirit once lost after the war—refers to going beyond the boundaries of self and devoting one’s strength for fellow Japanese, for one’s people. We believe it is our mission to inherit this spirit and the thoughts of our predecessors, and to carry them forward to the next generation.
If this message inspires you to live out this spirit of brotherly love, or to share with others what you have learned about the war, nothing would bring us greater joy.
May these memories never be lost, but passed on to generations to come.
With respect,
The students of Tokyo y’sBe Academy
